Use a technique such as meditation to quiet your mind and listen to the stillness within.
Flip off the All Negative Channel playing in your head every day,
Sweat no more that you’re not good enough – you are good enough.

Look deep within and ask, “Am I happy or am I pretending?” It’s time to take a stand and leave the past in the past. Make each day count and give yourself a break because life doesn’t come with an instruction manual. Promise yourself that you won’t allow your life to fade away. You can run, but you can’t hide. Sooner or later, you’ll have to face your life lessons. You may as well learn what you have to learn in order to move forward.

The Clearing

  7. Degraded
  8. Cardamom – A rhizomatous Indian herb (Elettaria cardamomum) having capsular fruits with aromatic seeds used as a spice or condiment.
  9. Nefarious – Infamous by way of being extremely wicked.
  10. Syncopated – stressing a normally weak beat

The libation flowed over her body and cleansed her of the slimy energy she picked up throughout the day. She even created her own gargle and lozenge to clean her mouth of any nefarious words she spoke; they usually weren’t hers.

She made a sumptuous vegetarian meal seasoned with cardamom; she liked to eat as cleanly as possible. Eating degraded meats was out of the question for her. But no one in her family understood this. The way they eat meat seemed like a masturbatory experience. To each their own.

She didn’t make exacting demands over the people the around her. What gave them the right to do that to her? She gave them the right by not setting strong boundaries. Her syncopated life needed resuscitating. Otherwise, it would be over. And it would be too late for her to live the life she was meant to live.

The loquacious people in her life are sedentary when it comes to cleaning up and taking responsibility for their lives. She, on the other hand, is artistic and rad.

Their slimy energy engulfs her; it’s like they have a voracious appetite for destroying her spirit. They’d like to decapitate her because they can’t stand how delicious her life is.

Their rotund faces are nothing more than masks hiding their anger, frustration and pain. Their happiness is artificial like fluorescent lights. Luckily, she knows how to clean her energy. She won’t be sucked into their drama.

If every bone in your body hurts, you can choose to dissolve the pain you bore over the years. It’s bunk! You can bloom. What will it be?

After all, it’s for your own good. Can you feel the big changes rumbling through your life? Have you had enough of the ‘same old, same old’ routine? It’s time to let go and pursue your dreams and the life you’re meant to live. Be great, be you.

How to Focus Your Mind and Outsmart Poverty

Question: How do you focus your mind and outsmart a poverty consciousness? What is a bottom-line approach? So many programs drone on and on with detail after detail. There has to be a better way to outsmart a poverty consciousness.

Answer: Start focusing on you and your life. Stop thinking you can’t have a wealth consciousness; stop thinking that you’re responsible for everyone. You’re not! You are solely responsible for you and your happiness. No one can ‘get’ this for you. You must want it bad enough to erase the beliefs and thoughts that were spoken over you as a child.

What do you truly want for your life? Write it down — be clear about it. Also, stop asking unsuccessful people for their opinions and thoughts on your desires. Most peoples’ minds are switched and hooked into the ‘poverty’ mindset. You won’t get far if you continue to ask others about ‘this or that.’

How to Focus Your Mind and Outsmart Poverty 

1. Get SUPER clear about what you want. What do you want? Can you visualize it? If not, can you find pictures of what you desire? Write down what you want and visualize everything the best you can. However, don’t become consumed by your desires — let them go. You can add, “This or something better for my highest good and the good of all.” Smile about your desires and know that you can have what you desire.

FYI: Most people really want love, peace and happiness. Material items are just that — they’re material.

2. Stop listening to the dogma of others. Steve Jobs was right, “Don’t listen to the dogma of others.” Stop taking advice from unsuccessful people. Surround yourself with successful people and you will be successful. Stop asking for permission from your spouse, mother, father, boss, cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. and live your life for you.

3. Toss out duty and obligation. There’s no law that says you MUST follow in the footsteps of your parents. There’s no law that says you MUST ALWAYS say “Yes” when you want to save “No.” You have a duty and obligation to yourself to live a happy and fulfilled life. Stop worrying about everyone else and start worrying that your life is passing you by like an out-of-control train. You don’t always have to help others. In fact, you could be doing more harm than good. If you keep helping people out, how will they ever learn to help themselves? It’s something to think about.

4. Start focusing on abundance. If you’re like most people, your mind is tuned to the “All Poverty 24-Hour Station” which is holding you in a place of lack. Start to recognize the abundance around such as ample trees, the yards of green grass, etc. You won’t and can’t attract abundance if you constantly focus on lack.

5. Stop hanging around with poverty conscious people. Like it or not, your family could be sucking the life out of you. You have every right NOT to hang around with these people. This may seem harsh but if you truly want to outsmart poverty it’s time to reevaluate your connections such as family and friends. How are they contributing to your success? Are they contributing to your success? Do they whine and complain? Do they blame their parents, the government and economy and other outside influences? It’s time to get your ‘personal house’ in order. It’s time to be truly honest and to let the people in your life go if they’re not healthy to be around.

Napoleon Hill’s book Outwitting the Devil is a MUST READ for anyone who wants to overcome a poverty conscious. It’s one the most thought-provoking books of its time. Even though it was written in 1938, it certainly applies to the 21st century. It’s a bottom-line approach to getting to the root of poverty conscious. Like it or not, self-examination is required. If you’re not willing to do the work from the inside out then you’ll still be stuck in your poverty consciousness. If you have children, you may want to take responsibility for your life, get clean and rid yourself of poverty consciousness once and for all.

I’m fascinated by people. I love to people watch and observe their behaviors and actions of those around me. Sometimes, I can’t believe what people do and say. I mean … Don’t people think? I guess not. Here is my Top 10 Lessons from Those without Common Sense.

Top 10 Lessons from Those without Common Sense

1. A woman calls an animal sister and says, “Hi! I’m Babette Regis, and my sister Bailey dropped off Gigi, a dachshund, and I’d I like to adopt her.”

Mistake #1: Posing as another person is illegal and known as fraud.

Mistake #2: Posing as another person is illegal and known as identity theft.

Effect #1: The manager of animal shelter calls Bailey (Gigi’s owner) and says, “Your sister Babette called to inquire about adopting Gigi.” Bailey says, “My sister is sitting next to me; it wasn’t her. It was my husband’s cousin’s meddling wife. Please don’t allow Gigi to be adopted by Babette. Please give her to a good loving home.” The manager says, “I had a bad feeling about Babette. I listened to my intuition and called you. Don’t worry; we have four families who are interested in adopting Gigi. They’re a better fit for Gigi.”

Effect #2: Babette could be placed on the “Do Not Adopt to These People” animal list because she lied about who she was. Also, Babette could be charged with fraud and identity theft for impersonating Bailey’s sister if she files charges against her (that would be a lot of work). FYI: When Babette’s mother-in-law finds out what she did, she’ll rip her ‘a new one’ because she’ll do anything to protect her son, Babette’s husband.

Lesson #1: “Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive?” ~ Sir Walter Scott

Lesson #2: Babette obviously isn’t aware of the law of cause and effect. For every action there is a reaction; for every cause there is an effect.

2. “You have no right to your thoughts and beliefs.”

FYI: Actually, you do have the right to your thoughts and beliefs. It would behoove you to examine your thoughts and beliefs and ask, “Where did these come from? Are these true for me?”

3. “Drank tequila shots — had two of them. Lol! Post from an 18-year-old college student on Facebook.

Mistake #1: Colleges and universities take underage drink seriously and peruse social media websites. They review profiles which are now used to determine if you’ll be accepted or not. This is how they ‘weed’ out incoming students because they want the best of the best. FYI: In 2011, you can be kicked out and or face a stiffer penalty for underage drinking.

Lesson: Stop posting your entire life on Facebook! Learn the art of discretion; otherwise, it could cost you more than you think it will.

4. “There’s no hope.” 

FYI: There’s always hope.

5. “It’s too late.”

FYI: It’s never too late.

6. “I didn’t do anything. It’s not my fault this happened to me.”

FYI: It is your fault — review your thoughts and beliefs. What do you tell yourself every day? How is or has your mind been shaped by your environment or the media? Nothing happens to you — you create your own reality.

7. “I’m not lucky.”

FYI: You create your own luck.

8. “Life is too hard.”

FYI: Life is what you make of it. Empty your head of self-sabotaging thoughts and may be life won’t be so hard.

9. “Life isn’t fair.”

FYI: Life is what you make of it. There is no such thing as life being fair or unfair. It’s up to you to take responsibility for your life. No one else can do it for you.

10. “I don’t know what happened to my money.”

FYI: If you spend more than what’s coming in every week or month, you won’t be able to pay your bills. Common sense says, “Create a budget. List your monthly income and expenses. You need to bring in enough or more money than what you spend.” Money is nothing but paper and coins. Cultivate a prosperity mindset and you’ll always have money flowing to you.

How to Focus on What You Want

Let me ask you something: How well do you focus on what you want? If you’re like me, you watched The Secret and read the book but haven’t manifested the life of your dreams. If you’re like me, you probably keep asking, “What am I doing wrong? Why isn’t the law of attraction working? How can I make it work for me?” I had a ‘light bulb’ moment (Aha moments are so 2000s), and came across the The Secret of Doing Without Doing by Dr. Robert Anthony.

How to focus on what you want

1. Think about what you want. Do you really and truly know what you want? You may think you know what you want, but you may actually not know what you want. Knowing what you want for your life is imperative. Write down everything you’d like from having peace of mind to a new home. Get clear about what you want.

2. Tune-out the negative hype. I’m reading *Outwitting the Devil, which is annotated by Sharon Lechter. You may be surprised how easy it is to ‘hypnotize’ people with hype. Look at the media. If you constantly tune-in to the news or read the newspapers, you’re programming your subconscious for negativity.

*Get the book from your library and read it. You’ll be amazed at what you read. The first two chapters are slow going; however, Chapter 3 A Strange Interview with the Devil will knock your socks off!

3. Stop listening to others. You don’t have to focus on what you family and close friends think and say. If the people closest to you constantly whine and complain, it may be time to surround you with people who are like-minded.

4. Learn to think for yourself. If you read Outwitting the Devil, you’ll learn how parents, teachers, religious leaders, bosses, co-workers, friends, etc. can easily influence your thoughts. I’ll use myself as an example. I was a rebellious child and teen. However, it wasn’t until a few years ago that I realized I was a ‘closet’ people pleaser. I did everything my mother and father told me to do, even though it never felt right. I allowed my father to control and manipulate me for a long time. It wasn’t until he got sick that the ‘wheels’ in my head began to turn. I realized I ‘wasted’ my entire life pleasing others instead of pleasing myself. This was a bitter pill to swallow. The irony is my father would say to me, “Did you think? Learn to think for yourself.” Talk about a contradiction!

I’ve been struggling lately with doing things that feel right for me. I just realized that I often put others needs before mine. Instead of saying, “How does this honor me?” I say, “What will so and so think? What will they feel?” I’m still not honoring me and my feelings. I think what happened was, I got tangled up in ‘spirituality now’ and forgot about me along the way. I now know I need to take my own advice and take my power back!

It’s never too late to break the cycle of people pleasing. Learn to set strong boundaries with people, no matter who they are. Stop allowing people to control and manipulate you.

5. Don’t apologize for wanting a better life. If your family and friends are stuck in ‘poverty’ mode, there’s no law that says you must join them. Don’t apologize for wanting a better life. Who knows, maybe you’ll inspire those around you to ‘clean up’ their lives. You can be the catalyst for them.

7 Habits That Lower Your Self-Esteem

You have the power to increase your self-esteem — no one can do it for you. If you want to increase your self-esteem, change your daily habits. If you have a ‘monkey mind’ that constantly puts you down, dissolve it once and for all. Negative self talk lowers your self-esteem. Associating with people who constantly complain and whine about life drains your energy and lowers your self-esteem — limit the time you spend with them. To quote Best-Selling Author Sonia Choquette, “Misery loves company, but happiness stands alone.”

7 Habits That Lower Your Self Esteem

1. Negative self talk. Are you constantly criticizing yourself? Do you put yourself down? If you do, it’s no wonder you have low self-esteem. No one is perfect. Stop the negative self talk and you’ll increase your self-esteem. Say affirmations such as, “I am beautiful; I am loving and lovable; I matter; I love and accept myself; I love and approve of myself.” Get a hand mirror and say these affirmations every day. Look directly into your eyes and say the affirmations with great feeling. Also, compliment yourself. If you do something good, congratulate yourself. Say, “Great job on writing that article” or “Kudos to you for shoveling your neighbor’s driveway.”

Stop the negative self talk and compliment yourself to ‘shift’ your energy and increase your self-esteem.

2. Associating with negative people. Associating with negative people can suck the life out of you and lower your self-esteem. Why would you have high self-esteem if you hang around with people who complain and whine all of the time? Lower energies aren’t good for your mental, emotional, and physical health. The next time you’re with negative people, really listen to their words and feel their vibration. You may feel your jaw and stomach tighten. This will affect your self-esteem. You’ll feel depleted and won’t have a zest for life. Detach from these people and thank them for the lessons they’ve given you.

3. Associating with negative people. They reflect back to you what you’re creating in your life. Thank these people for the lessons they provided, bless and release them.

4. Seclusion. When was the last time you enjoyed a night out? If you’re anti-social, it can lower your self-esteem. Perhaps you believe you don’t deserve to have friends or fun. Where do these beliefs come from? Are they true? Being secluded is no way to live. Take baby steps to meet people. Attend a church service or volunteer for at your favorite charitable organization. It will increase your self-esteem.

5. Watching depressing movies and television shows. Mind what you watch. Believe it or not, you could be influenced by movies and television shows. If you constantly watch the news or shows that are violent or filled with grief, it could lower your self-esteem. It can become depressing to watch news shows that only report the bad in the world. What about the good? Believe it or not, there is good in the world.

Monitor how much news you watch. Instead of watching depressing movies or television shows, watch comedies. Laughter is the best medicine!

6. Looking at the glass as half empty. Look at the glass as half full. Life is filled with ups and downs. It’s a great way to see how you handle situations. If life wasn’t filled with challenges, how would you grow? You would stay stuck and wouldn’t move forward in life. That’s no way to live.

7. A poor attitude. A poor mindset produces a poor life. If you don’t believe this, look at the balance in your checking and savings account. Are they at the maximum of $250,000 FDIC insured? Or, are they $100, $20 or $5?

If the above habits resonate with you, make a decision to acquire new ones. It takes 30-days to change a habit. Are you ready for the challenge? Your life will change in ways you may not expect. Does this scare you? Change can be good but you won’t know unless you get rid of your old habits and replace them with new ones. What are you waiting for? You have the power to increase your self-esteem. There’s no better time than to start than the present!
