Star Wars: Use the Force! Do You Embrace Your Light and Dark Side?

Are you a Star Wars fan?

I am.

My favorite movie is Empire Strikes Back.

Yes, I know many people say that.

But it’s where we found out that Darth Vader aka Anakin Skywalker is Luke and Leia’s father (spoiler alert). And the look on Luke’s is priceless.

Use Easy Daily Meditations to Reduce Your Stress

Why, oh why, do are we stressed out? It’s why daily meditations are necessary to calm your mind. Here’s why.

If you’re like me, you may have had setbacks.

For me it was losing my job, one that I really liked, in July 2018. I found another one a few months later, but it wasn’t a good fit for me (that’s another blog post).

So it was back to freelancing/consulting for me. And with most contracts, they sometimes end. It’s one thing if you don’t like what you’re doing, but I actually liked the industry.

When you’re stressed out, you may not think straight.

How To Actually Enjoy Visiting Your Family During the Holiday Season

How to Enjoy the Holiday Season

So I finally got over making a big deal out of the holiday season. How did I do this? By listening to those around me complain about them and by reflecting on how I probably sounded when I would complain about the holidays. After all, Christmas shopping can be stressful because you have to figure out what gifts to buy and then you have to drive around trying to find them.

As I started reflecting on the holiday season, I realized that I don’t have to celebrate Thanksgiving or Christmas if I didn’t want to. After all, there aren’t any laws that state, “You must celebrate the holidays or else you will be fined $500.” Or “You must spend the holidays with your family.” [Read more…]

Do You Want to Change Your Name? Consider the Emotional and Psychological Impacts

Do you want to change your name?-MisticCafe

On December 1, 2011, I published the post, What’s in a Name? Nameology Can Help You Figure That Out. In the post I talked about how I discovered the Kabalarian Society, located in Vancouver, BC, Canada. They’re an organization that specializes in analyzing birth names and business names.

If you never connected with your birth name, you could get a “free” Name Report that would provide you with an analysis of it.

Do you want to take it a step further? You could pay for a Balanced Name Report that would list first names and last names just for you. You could do the same for your current business name or if you’re in the process of naming your business.

Nameology is fascinating. However, you shouldn’t change your name because you think it will make you happy. You have to go deeper and get to the “root” of why you think changing your name is the right decision for you. Keep reading. [Read more…]

Solo Travel Helped Me Understand Why People Become Expats

Learn Why Solo Travel Leads to Becoming an Expat from MisticCafe.

I have confession to make. Here it goes. I’m in love The UK and traveled there several times. However, I’ve always traveled with a friend or family member. In August 2007, as a graduation (graduated with a Master of Science, Management degree) and birthday gift, I solo traveled to Edinburgh, Scotland to experience the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival. Was I nervous? Yes, I was. And it surprised me. Why? Because it wasn’t my first trip to Scotland, but it was my first time traveling alone.

Rather than book a hotel room, I chose to stay in a hostel. I was supposed to stay in a 6 bed mixed dorm room. However, due to an influx of guests, I was bumped to an 8 bed mixed dorm room.

Before I left for my trip, some of my co-workers teased me about staying in a hostel because of a horror film about a group of people who were terrorized while staying in a hostel.

I also don’t think they believed me when I told them I would travel by myself. Their doubts gave me more courage to travel alone.

Getting to Edinburgh via Heathrow was a trip in and of itself. Why? Because I missed my flight to Edinburgh and had to get another ticket. The ticket agent at Heathrow wasn’t too thrilled he had to issue me another airline ticket. Oh well…

I was grateful to meet people who helped me navigate the ginormous airport.

Once I arrived in Edinburgh I was taken aback by the number of people who attend the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival. Furthermore, I was surprised at the number of expats living in Edinburgh. Some of the people who worked at the hostel were from the U.S., Canada, and other countries. [Read more…]

Dear Bridal Shop: Your Employees Don’t Look like Heidi Klum

Learn How a Bridal Shop Employee Insulated a Customer from MisticCafe

“You need to lose weight and not gain any weight to fit into your bridesmaid dress.”

Those were the words spoken to my 21 year old niece on December 18, 2014 when she went for her first bridesmaid dress fitting at a Rocky River, Ohio bridal shop.

When my niece told me this I saw red.

“Who the hell is this woman?” I asked.

“Does she look like super model Heidi Klum?” I asked. Not that this matters.

With tears in her eyes, my niece said, “No.”

My cried all the way home because of the insensitive employee at the bridal shop in Rocky River, Ohio.

The bridal shop owner and employee are lucky that my niece didn’t get into a car accident.

After all, it’s difficult to drive and see the road when you’re balling your eyes out.

I looked up bridal shop online went to their Facebook; I clicked on their photos.

Guest what?

The women who work there don’t look like Super Models!

They look like the average size 12-16 American woman.

I can’t imagine Lori, owner of Bridals by Lori or Randy from Kleinfeld in New York, (see the hit TV shows on TLC) telling a woman that she needs to lose weight and that she better not gain weight to fit into a wedding gown or bridesmaid dress.

People wonder why teen girls, young women, and women in general, develop eating disorders. It’s because of clueless people like the woman who works at bridal shop in Rocky River, Ohio.

If women wonder why they can’t get along or develop friendships with other women, perhaps they should listen to the words they speak.

If women wonder why they can’t sell wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses, they should listen to the words coming out of their mouth. [Read more…]

EFT-tapping points (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Have you heard of EFT (emotional freedom technique) or tapping?

It not, you could be missing out on the opportunity to release your negative beliefs about financial abundance and wealth.

If you’re like most people, you learned your money beliefs from your parents.

If your parents were raised with a ‘lack’ mentality, chances are they passed this ‘stinking thinking’ onto you. If you have kids, you may have passed it onto your kids.

The cycle continues until someone breaks it. And that someone can be YOU!

Forgive your parents because they had no idea that their beliefs, thoughts, and words created their reality.

Right now, you can use tapping to shift your beliefs and thoughts around abundance, money, and wealth. Keep reading if you’re ready to open your arms and receive all the abundance that’s been waiting for you. [Read more…]

Shake Things Off: 10 Tips to Bouncing Back When Life Gets You Down

It’s a fact that all of us have suffered major setbacks. Perhaps you started a business that failed. Maybe your best friend told you she no longer wants to be your friend. Perhaps your boyfriend, girlfriend, or spouse cheated on you. Maybe you failed a test. Whatever the case maybe, it’s time to shake things off and bounce back when life gets you down!

People who dwell on their problems create more of the same. Don’t believe me. Look at your life. Is it filled with joy and laughter? Or is it filled with drama-rama? Do you have supportive people in your life? Or do you have energy vampires who suck the living daylights out of you?

Go ahead and assess your life up until this point. I’ll wait.

If you don’t like what you’ve discovered, you’re not alone. I assess my life, maybe too much, and sometimes want to crawl into a hole after I discover that I may have created unnecessary pain and suffering. I look at situations and people and think How did I attract this or that? What was I thinking? Believe me; your thoughts are more powerful than you think. You are more power than you think.

But never fear and I mean this. You can bounce back when life gets you down. It’s easier than you think. [Read more…]

10 Dangerous Money Beliefs: How to Master Your Mind for Abundance

Some people believe that money changes everything about you and your life but not in a good way. This is why their financial future may be unstable.

For example, you may believe that money makes you arrogant and rude. However, if you had more money, you could make a difference in lives of thousands, perhaps even millions of people. You could begin with your family and friends.

Money is nothing but energy and paper and coins.

But, you may give money absolute power over you.

Instead of being a money master, you’re a money servant. You let it control your emotions, thoughts and beliefs. You let it stress you out whenever your bills are due. This isn’t healthy.

Instead of worrying about money, which only gives you more issues to worry about, make peace with money.

Become its friend and master. How? By questioning and tossing out your beliefs about money. If you don’t, they’ll continue to destroy you in ways that you could only imagine. [Read more…]

7 Warning Signs You’re about to Marry the Wrong Man

Are you engaged to be married?

You may think that you’ve found Mr. Right, but think again.

Because love can be blind, and you ignore red flags that you’re about to marry the wrong man.

Let’s face it; when you fall in love, you’re on cloud nine and thrilled that you’ve found a partner whom you can spend the holidays such as Valentine’s Day with, someone to snuggle up to on a cold night.

But, do you know your man like you think you do? How well do you know his family?

In the beginning, your relationship may be sugar and spice and everything nice, but as you get to know each other, you may see your significant other in a different light.

Before you walk down the aisle and say “I Do,” check out the warning signs that you’re about to marry the wrong man. Save yourself from heartache now rather than later.

7 Warning Signs You’re about to Marry the Wrong Man

Learn the 7 Warning Signs You're about to Marry the Wrong Man.
1. He’s a mama’s boy.

You may think it’s admirable that your fiancé’s mother cooks and cleans for him, but what do you think will happen when you’re married? That’s right. You get to pick up where his mom left off. Do you want to be a wife to your husband or a mother? After all, you’ll most likely work 40 or more hours per week, like your husband. Shouldn’t there be equal household responsibilities?

2. He has control issues.

When you want to get your haircut, does your guy give you hard time? What about when you want to spend time with your friends? Does he insist on going with you? These are a couple of signs that your guy has control issues. Think twice before you get married, because control can turn into physical, mental and emotional abuse.

3. He will only hang out with his family and friends.

Ever notice how you spend most of your time with your fiancé’s family and friends? When this happens, your family and friends will feel neglected. Have a chat with your man and make it clear that there has to be a balance between hanging out with both sides of the family and both sets of friends. If he disagrees, you may want to rethink his proposal.

4. He doesn’t say, “I love you.”

Some guys have a difficult time saying, “I love you.” But you’d like to hear him say those words, right? Have a heart-to-heart with your guy and get to the root of why he can’t express his feelings. Perhaps he was taught that a man is not supposed to show his feelings. If this is the case, reassure him that it’s OK for him to be vulnerable. If it’s not the case, you’ll have to think about whether or not you can live without hearing your husband say, “I love you.”

5. He puts you down in public and private.

Do you want to marry someone who treats your like dirt and doesn’t respect you? When you’re married, do you think your husband will stop insulting you? Maybe, if he seeks counseling. Then again, maybe his family has a pathology or history of abuse. Perhaps he saw his mother treated horribly by his father. Think about the kind of marriage you’ll have. Think about the kind of marriage you deserve and want.

6. Your future mother-in-law runs his life.

Do you notice how your man has to call his mother when he gets home from work or a night out with you? Does he discuss his finances with his mother and allow her to make decisions about his financial future? If you think this will stop when you’re married, you could be in for a rude awakening. How much do you want your mother-in-law involved in your married life?

7. His finances are out-of-control.

Have you discussed finances? For example, does your guy have credit card debt that he’s not paying off? Does he have a checking and/or savings account? How about an investment portfolio? Before you commit to marriage, discuss finances. You want to create a solid financial future together as husband and wife. Think long and hard about entering into a marriage that’s riddle with financial catastrophe. You don’t want to ruin your credit, do you?

So, there you have it.

The seven warning signs you’re about to marry the wrong man.

When you notice red flags about the man you’re about to marry, think about if you want to get married. Have a conversation with your fiancé because it could save you time, money and possibly your life. Don’t feel bad if you want to call off your wedding. You won’t be the first woman to give an engagement ring back. It’s better to say, “I Don’t,” rather than to say “I Do” to a lifetime of misery.
