Untitled Short Story about Stinking Thinking

Subsoil (short story)

Julian felt like he was a speck within the universe. What’s the point to life? It’s stupid. The vein in his forehead often pulsed when he thought like this. Julian wasn’t conscious of the fact how his negative thoughts were attracting unsavory and unwanted people and situations to him; he was like a magnet. It was if he was in a void. Being around jovial people was difficult for Julian because he didn’t know how to be happy. He beat the drum of unhappiness for so long and didn’t know any better; it was the sheet music to his life. If Julian didn’t shift his energy and mindset soon, he would become forever lost within the doughy abyss of his stinking thinking!

Don’t Spend Your Life Seeking Approval from Others

I was listening to one of Joel Osteen’s podcasts and it was about “Not Living for Approval.” This struck a chord with me because I didn’t realize that for most of my life I was living for approval. I was living for approval from my family (particularly my father), co-workers, bosses, and friends. I was taken aback because I consider myself a strong personality who doesn’t care what people think — apparently I was wrong. I began my emotional and spiritual transformation three years ago and it has opened eyes to the many wonders of life.

I’m done living for approval. The only approval I seek is from me! What people think of me is none of my business. If my career choice or lifestyle doesn’t mesh with what others think my career or lifestyle should be, it will not hurt my feelings. I learned to walk away from people no matter who they are. Most people can’t do this because they buy into the belief that their family is everything to them. This may be true for some but not for others. It’s unfortunate, but sometimes family and friends won’t give you their approval. You must be strong enough to say, “That’s okay, but I’m pursuing my dreams anyway.” Don’t allow anyone to deter you from your path. It may be difficult in the beginning but it will get easier.

Seeking approval from others is a form of control and manipulation. Your belief is that you must control others in order to get what you want which is their approval. You believe you must sacrifice what’s in your heart in order to receive approval from others. This is a lot of work! Don’t be fooled by false promises. If people want to give your their approval, they’ll give it to you.

Approve of yourself. Love yourself fully and watch as the world before you transforms. Get out of your head (easier said than done) and start living. Who cares what people think? Stop putting emphasis on what your family members think about you because you’ll drive yourself crazy! You can’t please everyone — please yourself. Life’s too short to be worried about what others think if you do this or that. Start living and stop being an approval seeker.

7 Ways Harry Potter’s Charm ‘Expecto Patronum’ Can Protect You

We can learn a lot from Harry Potter who’ll be wrapping up the multi-billion dollar movie franchise in 2011. In case you didn’t know, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I will be in theaters on November 19, 2010 — Part II will be in theaters in 2011.

One of the charms Harry and the other students learn at Hogwarts is ‘Expecto Patronum’ which produces a Patronus. For those of you unfamiliar with the magical world of Harry Potter, a Patronus is a protector, a positive force that takes the shape of an animal. You must think of a very happy, powerful memory for your Patronus to protect you from a Dementor or a human who’s acting like a Dementor. You must focus and allow your memory to fill you up. By the way, Harry Potter’s Patronus is a powerful Stag!

Believe it or not, ‘Expecto Patronum’ can protect you in your everyday life. All of us have family members, co-workers, bosses, spouses, and other people that act like Dementors. They can ‘suck the life out of you’ in less than 2.5 seconds! Instead of getting angry or irritated, think of your favorite, most powerful memory and say ‘Expecto Patronum’ and watch as your Patronus creates a barrier between you and them. You’ll be protected and feel much better.

7 ways ‘Expecto Patronum’ can protect you

  • Protect you from negative energy at work
  • Protect your from negative energy when you go shopping
  • Protect you from negative people in your home
  • Protect you from relatives during the holidays who’ll ask you “Why are you still single?” or “What do you mean you don’t plan on having children?”
  • Protect you from the ‘real life’ Dementors in your life
  • Protect you from negative energy when you’re driving
  • Protect you from negative energy whenever you communicate with anyone via phone or email

Some people may have a difficult time using the ‘Expecto Patronum’ charm on loved ones but it may necessary to use it from time-to-time. Your well-being is important, and you won’t be able to help others if your energy is sapped all of the time. Do what you can to take care of yourself because there’s only one of you!

Use the ‘Expecto Patronum’ charm with care and if that doesn’t work, try the ‘Stupefy’ spell which “knocks out” your opponent. They probably can use a good nap and will feel refreshed when they wake up. Hopefully, they won’t remember you ‘Stupefied’ them. Then again, you can always use the ‘Obliviate’ charm to erase their memory of it!
