You know that feeling you get when you travel? The “angelic you” on one shoulder says that you should live life to the fullest because you only have one life to live. You should do what you want to do and stop caring about what other think about how you travel all of the time. But the “devilish you” on the other says you should just stay home, save your money, and stop increasing your carbon footprint.

The truth is that sometimes you have to leave what you know behind and travel.

Why?

Because if you stay in one place for a significant amount of time, do the same things every day, and eat the same foods every day, you’ll probably become bored out of your mind and complacent.

You won’t change.

You won’t grow.

You won’t learn.

You’ll be the same person you were 5-10 years ago.

Is that a good thing? I don’t think so.

Stop right now and reflect on your life.

Is it the way you thought it would be?

Do you have everything you want?

Are you working in that dream job?

Probably not.

Your current reality most likely does not match the one you’ve imagined in your head.

If you want to change your life, you may have to leave your comfort zone for a while. You may have to actually meet new people, learn new skills, and discover new perspectives.

You may have to leave what you know behind and travel for a while.

If you wake up feeling sick and tired of being sick and tired, that’s a strong indication that your life is not going in the right direction. Plus, you’re frickin’ unhappy! And if you’re not happy do you think the people around you will be? No, they won’t.

Stop what you’re doing and think about the areas in your life you want to improve.

Maybe you want better and healthier family relationships.

Maybe you’d like to make new friends.

Maybe you want to actually have a career you enjoy.

Just take five minutes and write down where you’d like to see improvements in your life. Go ahead. I’ll wait.

Okay. Are you finished?

Even if you’re not, that’s okay. You can always review and add to your list.

Let’s take a look at what you’ve listed and pretend that you want to improve you relationship with your family.

The first step is to accept the past and accept each and every person for who they are, warts and all.

Believe me, this is not easy to do, especially if you didn’t have a great childhood.

But if you can accept and forgive the past and people who may have hurt you, you’ll free yourself from the ties that bind.

Keep in mind that it may not be healthy for you to hang out with certain family members for an extended period of time. It’s okay to limit your contact with them. Send them lots of love and focus on your life.

If you can improve the relationships with your family, you can do anything, like travel the world. In fact, it may be the best prescription for you. Not only do you get to see and appreciate beautiful scenery, but you get to spend time with yourself away from your environment, especially if it’s toxic.

Improving your life today can lead to miracles tomorrow!

Now that you’re taking steps to improve your life, you may be wondering how travel can help you get what you want.

Let’s look at the list of “life improvements” you’d like to make. Perhaps you want to change your career or start your own business.

Here’s a tip … Many of the successful people you read about, especially celebrities, did not get where they are by themselves. Let me repeat that. Some of the most successful people you read about in popular blog posts and magazines did not achieve their success by themselves. Why? Because you can’t do everything by yourself — that’s insane!

I know what you’re thinking, “I don’t know anyone who can help me!”

You may not know anyone in your area that could help you, but there may be someone in another city, state or country that could.

Let’s look at a career changing example.

Maybe you’d like to become a financial advisor. Why? Because it satisfies your love of finances, helping people secure their financial future, and consulting. Wonderful!

If you don’t have the necessary credentials, you’ll need to get them by attending classes and taking the necessary exams. Once you obtain the credentials you need, you can start looking for a position with a company. You can also attend finance industry conferences, but you may have to travel for these.

By traveling to conferences, you leave what you know behind. You also meet new people, some of which may help you to land your dream job as a financial advisor.

Do you see how travel can help you get what you want?

You want a new career as a finance advisor and by attending conferences, both local and out-of-state; you’ll meet people who may know of job openings. However, it’s up to you to answer the Door of Opportunity when it knocks. Keep in mind that you may have to move for your job. Can you do that? Or are you tied to your current location?

Traveling can open many doors that can help you to improve your life. The question is, “Will you answer when opportunity knocks? Or will you ignore it?”

Are You Ready to Change Your Life Through Travel?

Imagine your life six months from now. What does it look like?

Are you working in the career that makes you get out of bed in the morning?

Have your relationships, especially the one with yourself, improved?

Are you happy?

Are you traveling and having experiences you didn’t think were possible?

I bet you are!

Why?

Because you acknowledged that sometimes you have to leave what you know behind in order to grow and move forward in your life. It’s how you can evolve as a person.

Please don’t become stuck in your life!

And for heaven’s sake, do not allow others to keep you stuck in your life. Take your power back right now! Just because you may be surrounded by people who are afraid to travel doesn’t mean you have to be like them. You can be you! It’s okay to be an individual. Really, it is.

If you’re ready to change your life through your travel, you may consider taking a faith-based tour. It’s okay if you’re not religious. It’s more about the spiritual journey or what I refer to as the “journey to the center of YOU.” It’s about connecting your mind, body, and spirit so that you can have the life you want — a happy one!
