Jerry Maguire is a hit movie from 1996 starring Tom Cruise (Jerry Maguire) and an up-and-coming Renée Zellweger (Dorothy). The following lines resonated with people (mostly women) around the world:

Jerry Maguire: I love you. You… you complete me. And I just…
Dorothy: Shut up, just shut up. You had me at “hello.”

Unfortunately, no one told Jerry Maguire that no one could complete him. It’s his job to complete himself. A woman, car, salary, vacation, boat, home, etc. won’t complete him until he aligns with his source or higher self. If he doesn’t, he’ll go through life expecting people, situations, and material objects to fill the void within him. It’s a vicious cycle until it’s permanently broken.

Do you look to people and situations to complete you? What do you get out of it? Continuing to look outside of yourself for something you can only give to you will disappoint you. Your partner or spouse can only match your frequency or vibration. If you’re looking for them to give you love and respect, you could be waiting for a long time. Have you ever thought about why relationships don’t work out? Often, we put pressure on the other person to fill a void within us, but we’re the only ones who can fill it. Until you realize this, you’ll continue to attract self-sabotaging relationships into your life. Only you have the power to change this.

Expecting someone else to complete you is asking too much of them. They’ll become exhausted from having to please you by watching what they say and do. Of course, the same goes for you. If you constantly try to make the people around you happy, they’ll become upset with you when they’re angry. Their anger has nothing to do with you — it’s all about them. It has absolutely nothing to do with you.

Being consistently happy is the way to complete you. Love and accept yourself no matter what. If you’re out of alignment, you probably have been prone to stinking thinking. If you shift your thoughts and recognize what works in your life, you’ll experience a shift. Keeping an appreciation or gratitude journal can help you realize how much you have in your life. All you have to complete you is within you not outside of you.
