Okay, I haven’t posted anything on MisticCafe.com in a long time. I’ve been busy with my other websites and life. This is the first blog I ever created and it’s like my baby. Unfortunately, like most parents sometimes you neglect your child because you become self-absorbed in your life. That’s about to end. I’m committed to posting at least once a week on this blog. So here it goes…

Is the environment about to self-destruct at the hands of humans? Year after year, it’s the same old story. Some corporation somewhere has contributed to the destruction of planet Earth. Most of the humans on this planet sit back and have a “whatever” attitude about it. They figure someone else will take care of the problem. What happens when there’s no one left to clean up the planet? What happens where there isn’t a planet to clean up? That’s right, our environment could self-destruct at the hands of the humans who walk and live upon it.

The Gulf of Mexico 2010 oil spill has really gotten to me and other citizens. It’s the 21st century and we still haven’t figured out that nothing lasts forever. Why does it take a catastrophe to happen to make us realize that nothing lasts forever? Wouldn’t it make more sense to ensure our infrastructures and structures are solid and secure? Wouldn’t it make more sense to ensure a crisis plan is in place in case something happens? How about having technologies ready and available to stop a crisis if it occurs? Perhaps this is asking too much.

The damage from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill is horrifying. Experts say it’s worse than the Exxon Mobil oil spill of 1989. Innocent animal and plant life are once again killed because of human stupidity. Once again peoples’ livelihoods are in jeopardy because “big corporations” couldn’t think ahead. Maybe this tragedy will wake up the people of the U.S. It’s about time citizens become angry and demand change from corporations and the government. The life of planet and its inhabitants deserve justice.

What’s taking so long to fix Gulf of Mexico oil problem? Seriously, a five-year-old probably could have figured out how to solve the problem. Quit the “blame game” and fix the problem. Maybe it’s the lack of technology. It’s the 21st century and the U.S. is still lagging behind in technology when compared to other countries. This problem could have been fixed a long time ago if the proper technology was available.

It’s amazing how U.S. citizens have to bail out corporations like AIG, banks, and other institutions for their major screw-ups. In the meantime, Americans are getting screwed left and right. Their houses are being foreclosed, jobs are being eliminated, and credit card debt increases while these companies roll in the money. Where’s the justice in this? Why aren’t people speaking out? Nothing will change if your voice isn’t heard. It’s up to you to make it known how ticked off you are and that you won’t take it anymore.

If you love the environment, recycle (where you can), buy organic foods that are locally grown, make sure you put your trash in trash cans, pickup litter, and be the best you can be. The Earth won’t last forever if everyone doesn’t do their part to respect and protect the environment.

What do you know about Haiti? Millions of dollars were raised to help the country and its people recover from the earthquake that hit it many weeks ago. Where were these people before the earthquake struck Haiti? What were they doing to get the tariffs lifted from the country? What do they know about the history of Haiti? How will Haiti rebuild? How will they survive if they aren’t allowed to export more goods? These are questions that you may want to ask yourself before you jump on the bandwagon to help Haiti in a onetime deal.

It’s amazing how people come together when a disaster occurs, but they forget about people and their country throughout the year. It’s like people who go to church at Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. They pack the church three times a year but are non-existent throughout the year.

Helping others when disaster strikes is generous, but what are you doing throughout the year? Haitians could use help restoring the country in more ways than one. They could use a hand to create a thriving economy.

I’m not saying that you shouldn’t donate to Haiti or other countries that suffer from a disaster. I’m asking you to make sure you understand the circumstances that a country faces and what you can do to help on a permanent basis. It may not be a one time deal.

I recently met someone at a Meetup who applied for a job with New York and Company at the Tempe Marketplace in Tempe, AZ. They blatantly told her that she would fit in better at the Chandler Fashion Mall on Chandler Blvd. in Chandler, AZ. Was this selective hiring or discrimination? Whoever told her this wasn’t too bright because I’m writing a blog about it. I wonder what the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) would say about this.

How does New York and Company know that she wouldn’t fit in? Believe me; the people in Arizona don’t dress like the people from New York, London, Chicago, Boston, or any other trendy place. They wear khakis, tank tops, flip flops, shorts, T-shirts, and any other casual wear all year long. This hardly constitutes as New York fashion even though fashion designers will feature these items, they’re not the same in AZ.

It’s interesting that they judged her because New York and Company does offer some “preppy” looks. It’s not like shopping at Prada or a boutique in New York. It’s Tempe, AZ and a Marketplace that’s minutes away from ASU — you get the picture. Since when do college kids really care about how they look? Most of them roll out of bed and are good to go.

I felt compelled to write this blog because it’s interesting how we “judge” others. What they don’t know about this woman is that she’s in marketing and could have helped New York and Company market their brand at the store level. They’ll never know how many extra sales she would have brought into the store. They’ll never know how much she could have helped increased the bottom line which is important in business and retail sales. As my law professor would say, “….too bad, so sad.” Just some food for though.

Sarah Palin has ordered the aerial killing of wolves. Could you imagine if she and John McCain won the Presidency and Vice Presidency of the U.S.?

Eye on Palin is dedicated to exposing Governor Palin and her vicious attacks on wildlife in Alaska. What does Palin have against conservation and the conservation of wildlife? Who knows. Maybe the wolves will receive a reprieve because she’s too busy belly aching about David Letterman’s jokes which were taken out of context!

What do you think about Palin’s aerial hunting of wolves?

Many people are not amused by the Comedy Central cartoon South Park. They find it offensive for one reason or another. However, if you watch this hit cartoon, you may learn something. Somehow, some way the writers “weave” a “moral” into the story lines. Maybe the creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone wouldn’t agree with this or maybe they would.

For example, the episode titled Margaritaville involved Randy (Stan’s dad) teaching him about saving his money by taking him to a bank and making him deposit his $100 check that he received from his grandma. Unfortunately, Stan loses his money he deposited at the bank. Randy then steps forward with a plan to save the desperate economy. He informs everyone that it’s their fault because they got greedy and bought things that they couldn’t afford. “No more needless spending!”

Kyle (Stan’s friend) says that, “…people were being stupid and lost their faith in the economy. The economy was made up by people thousands of years ago. It’s not real, yet it is real.” It’s us to us to FIX IT now in order to secure our future. We need to have FAITH in it and treat it with respect.

Kyle EXPLAINS what credit cards and money really are. They’re meaningless. It has NO VALUE whatsoever. Stan explains that credit cards are nothing but “pieces of plastic.” We are the ones putting a value on plastic cards. Money is nothing but paper. We are the ones putting a value on colored, paper money! Until we put our faith in it, the economy is meaningless.

This may be farfetched, but it made sense to me. Many people believe that money is nothing but energy. Read Napoleon Hill or Bob Proctor and you’ll find this out. If you have a “poor mentality,” you’ll attract poverty into your life. Cultivate a “wealth mentality,” and you’ll see the fruits of your labor pay off. Which one do you have?

The History Channel is airing a television program titled Life After People. What a great title! This is an interesting and intriguing program. Unfortunately, structures such as the Eiffel Tower, Sears Tower, The Golden Gate Bridge, and others will crumble. This is too bad.

Life After Man begs the question: whose fault is it that man will destroy himself and everything around him? Is it God’s fault? Where is God in all of this? After all, he’s the one that is responsible for creating man, isn’t he? Shouldn’t he have put a stop to all of the destruction that man has done? Then again, some people believe we all have “God like” qualities within us. So maybe it is just our fault. This may seem controversial, but it’s something to ponder.

It seems quite fitting that items such as styrafoam cups will outlast man. It’s ironic that this man made creation will be around longer than man. Even plastic will outwit, outlast, and outplay man! Talk about being a true survivor!

Life after man may be paradise. It’s sad to say but it’s true. Mother Nature, Father and Mother God, wildlife, some domestic animals, and wildlife may have a big party. After all, if species have evolved over time, who says they need man around to hold down the fort. As the program states, our closest relative the ape aka gorillas will take over planet Earth and it will literally be The Planet of the Apes!

What do you think about Life After People? Do you think is possible?

Recently, many Americans have lost their jobs for one reason or another. Is it fair that non-Americans, who cannot stand Americans or our culture, continue to stay in this country with their job? Not only are these people in our workforce, but they take advantage of our college and universities.

When you spend time with non-Americans and they bad mouth the way Americans dress or speak, it takes a lot to be polite to them. You may choose to swallow your pride just to get through dinner. These people may say to you, “sorry, I don’t mean to offend you.” Are they kidding? They’re sitting pretty in technical jobs while Americans, born and raised are losing their jobs.

Americans constantly receive backlash from other countries for being rude and ignorant. What’s that saying about “the pot calling the kettle black?”

If you’re a non-American who cannot stand America, why are you here? America is not the only industrialized nation in the world! There’s Canada, The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Ireland and other countries. You can pick up and leave the U.S. at anytime.

It would behoove companies such as Intel to make sure that they hire Americans before non-Americans. It does not reflect well on the company that they hire or hired non-Americans who have nothing but ugly comments about the U.S.

If you’re a non-American with a green card living in the U.S., hopefully you appreciate the U.S. We may not be a perfect country or have resolved our issues, but at least we provide people with freedom of speech, the right to vote (men and women), and many other freedoms. If you do not like the U.S., get out and give your job to an American that can use it!

Do you work with non-Americans that bad mouth the U.S.? How do you feel about it?

Traveling can open your eyes to different cultures and customs. This is not a bad thing. Is it a good thing that we are striving to be one? Being unified is one thing, converting people to be “one in the same” is another.

Here’s a great video about global transformation. Watch and listen intently to the video. There are many messages within this video. It will make you think.

What did you think of this video? Do you agree or disagree with it’s message?

There is much talk about Nadya Suleman and her eight babies. This makes a total of 14 children for the young mom. Isn’t it interesting how America and the entire world are fascinated by Nadya? For a few moments people stopped listening about the economic situation of the U.S. and turned their attention to Nadya. She’s been receiving negative media attention for quite some time. Is this fair? Is Nadya the only woman in the world to have children that she cannot afford? The answer, of course, is no. However, the babies have one thing that many children do not have, the same father!

Nadya is being unfairly judged. Many women in the U.S. and around the world have children they cannot afford to raise. The number of children is irrelevant. Men and women have no business having children if they cannot afford to raise them. It’s not uncommon for grandparents to raise their grandchildren because their children cannot take care of their kids. Often times, the children and grandchildren move in with the grandparents. This is becoming prevalent in the U.S.

Many women in the U.S. have children by different men. It’s not uncommon for women to have two or more kids with different fathers. At least Nadya knows who the father is of her 14 children. Why aren’t women whose children have different fathers being judged? Do you think these women can raise their children? They are probably receiving government assistance paid for by the citizens of the U.S.

Why is that men who father children with multiple women are not being judged? Dr. Phil’s February 27 episode was “Forced to be a Deadbeat Dad.” Former NBA star Jason Caffey owes child support for 10 children. Of course, the children do not have the same mother. Where is the uproar about this? Guess what? His career is over and he cannot pay the child support that was agreed upon between him and one of the “baby’s mama.” The woman is taking him to court because he has not paid child support. Jason’s attorney and the “baby’s mama” attorney were on the February 27 Dr. Phil show. Jason was offered a deal from the woman’s attorney. Will he take it? Stay tuned.

The bottom line is that Nadya made a major mistake. She has announced that she realizes her mistake. Unfortunately, it’s too late. However, Nadya is not the only person in the world to make a major mistake. Many people make mistakes everyday and then think about the consequences of their actions. It’s human nature.

The bottom line is that these children are here, and they cannot be sent back. They need love and the basic necessities. Americans pay for many children each year, what’s a few more. Maybe if people would start taking responsibility for their own lives, the U.S. would not have so many issues. When people learn to face their fears, learn why they are not happy, and take the steps to live a better life, perhaps the U.S. will be get back on track.

Do you think Nadya deserves the negative attention she’s been receiving?

It’s a sad day for The United States of America when the government bails out Wall Street, and they use the money to pay corporate executives bonuses!

It was very generous of the folks from “Main Street.” After all, it is the holiday season, and it’s better to give than receive.

According to an article posted on Yahoo! news:

“Crisscrossing the country in corporate jets may no longer fly in Detroit after car executives got a dressing down from Congress. But on Wall Street, the coveted executive perk has hardly been grounded.

Six financial firms that received billions in bailout dollars still own and operate fleets of jets to carry executives to company events and sometimes personal trips, according to an Associated Press review.”

It’s reassuring to read that the billions in bailout have not disrupted the flight patterns of these corporate executives. Thank goodness oil and gas prices have declined. More importantly, they received their Christmas bonuses before the BIG holiday. Whew, they dodged a bullet. Imagine the look on their wives, girlfriends, or life partners face if they only received a 1-carat diamond ring!

Yet, our troops who are serving this country around the world must buy their own socks. You read that correctly; our men and women must purchase their own socks. This is no joke people. You would think that a government that is able to give Wall Street billions in dollars would be able to provide socks for its own military personnel.

This information was brought to light thanks to the Southwest Institute of the Healing Arts. They have a program called Heart and Sole which is collecting socks for our men and women in the military. The goal is to collect 10,000 pairs of socks.

My family has a strong military background. In fact, I found out I have a cousin in the Pentagon. No one knew this. Of course, this is my dad’s side of the family so that makes sense. In our family it was “keep things to yourself and do not speak to anyone outside of the family about family business.” It sounds more Godfatherish than military.

My dad and his brothers served in the Army and their uncles served in World War II. Like so many women, my grandmother did her part and went to work while our boys were overseas. She also saved tin foil and lard in addition to recycling plastic and glass.

It’s a shame that our government cannot provide something as basic as socks to our men and women in the military. As my father would say, “where are your priorities?”

I know I can sleep better at night knowing that all of the executives on Wall Street and two of the BIG 3 automakers were bailed out with billions of taxpayers’ dollars. At least I will not have to worry about this going into the New Year.

We in America have our values in perfect order: Wall Street and executives first, military second, and Main Street last. It’s good to know that all of the corporate executives will have a “banner” holiday season. I myself feel fabulous knowing that my tax dollars were able to provide Wall Street executives with bonuses and holidays in the Hamptons. Have a great 2008 holiday season!
